For indoor lighting, conventional forms of lighting like halogen or sodium vapor lamps are slowly being replaced by LEDs. Light emitting diodes are proven to have several advantages over these other bulbs, and will eventually replace all other forms of lighting. High powered LED bulbs can save 80 to 90 percent of your electricity costs as compared to halogens or HPS bulbs, an unbelievable number. A 3 Watt LED bulb has the same luminous intensity (brightness) as a 20 Watt incandescent bulb, and a 5 Watt Led can similarly replace a 40 Watt incandescent bulb. They last for 50,000 hours, 5 times more than conventional bulbs, and are also completely eco friendly. These lights can also be dimmed completely.
Similarly LED tubes are quickly replacing fluorescent tubes for the same reasons. They utilize only one third of the electricity consumed by fluorescent bulbs, and also have the added advantage of not needing any ballast or starter. These LED tubes are eco friendly as well and far more durable than conventional tubes. They have a lifespan of 30,000 hours, thrice as much as their conventional counterparts. Their brightness can also be dimmed or brightened from o% to 100% with no trouble.
