Vacheron Constantin is one of the most expensive wrist watch brands, from Swiss origin. The journey of this prestigious watch making started on 1755 in Geneva, the founder member was Jean-Mark Vacheron, and he was only 24 years of age when he started his watch-making business. The watches made by Mark Vacheron were known for their perfect finish and unparallel accuracy of output.
In 1814, the third-generation owner Jacques Barthelemy Vacheron felt the requirement of another partner. The company was running pretty well and the fine watches from this company had enough hot craze in contemporary affluent society members but as an owner, Vacheron could felt the vibes of the growing business that it might require another one to share the vision and to expand the horizon further. In this way the second partner Francois Constantin got an entry as a partner of the firm and the company took the new name “Vacheron & Constantin”, which in time became an awesome watch brand worldwide.
The new partner may not have the watch making spark in him, but he was a hardcore marketing persona. He traveled all over the world and established their products by opening new franchisees, and strong distributors’ network. The wrist watches were famous, now they grabbed international name and fame.
There was another key person in the history of Vacheron Constantin is Georges-Auguste Leschot. He was a mechanical genius and incorporated multiple new features in production method.
Due to Georges-Auguste Leschot the production cost was abruptly reduced and thus the company could implement a fantastic new feature in the process of watch making. The company decided to work on each of part of the watches by hand and it invariably added a new dimension in finish resulting in marvelous and stunning get up of each of Vacheron Constantin production. All credit on this account goes to Georges-Auguste Leschot.
On 1854 Francois Constantin expired and on 1863 Jacques Barthelemy Vacheron passed away. The legacy of the company was given to Charles Vacheron but unfortunately he died on his age of 25 only. After sudden demise of Charles, the company was managed by two women. One of them was Catherine-Etienne Vacheron, Charles’s mother and second one was his wife Laure Vacheron- Pernessin. Both this due managed to lead this company into 20th century successfully.
The success story of Vacheron Constantin is still ongoing, which is why there are so many replica watches these days.
In 2005 this legendary watch company introduced one of the most complicated wrist watches of 20th century. The name of the watch is Tour deI’lle and it was made to celebrate the 250th anniversary of this giant watch brand. The watch had 834 parts and 16 horological complications; each of the watches was sold against $1 million or more price value. This is obviously the direction that the Swiss manufacturers must proceed in to stay competitive against the replica watch market. Obviously, no one can copy a 1 million dollar watch for a hundred dollars.
